Whenever I am asked "what should we wear" for photos, my mind wanders back to my own family and our unfortunate fashion choices during the 70's. In our defense, everyone had a temporary lapse in clothing sense -- personally, I blame Disco! Anyway, lest you want a gem similar to mine shown here, choose classic looks. Solid colors are preferred, in whatever shade is most flattering to your family members. Dress in similar clothing but not too "matchy", because that look can be almost as unwanted as my 70's fiasco.
Let your smiling faces be the focus -- not your creative choice of clothing. Good Luck!
